03/09/2009 BSA Caring for the Environment

When Managing Director Mark Foley issued the company's first environmental policy in September 2004, he set the long term direction for developments to minimise environmental impacts, reduce natural resource use and prevent pollution arising from operations across BSA.
Led by National Project Manager Kevin Bradley and his team, a key milestone was achieved in 2008 when BSA was awarded certification of our environmental management system to the international standard ISO 14001 by BSI Benchmark Certification. ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted set of rules that guides organisations like BSA when setting up an environmental management system.
The key component of all ISO 14001 environmental management systems is the determination of the organisations key objectives and measurable targets directed towards improving environmental performance and then operating programs to meet those objectives and targets. These objectives were recently set for the 2009 and 2010 calendar years and include such measures as paper reuse, no colour printing, duplex printing, recycling, and fortnightly eco-friendly Green Tips.
BSA is committed to adopting an environmentally responsible approach to all our business activities now and in the future.

10/08/2009 PDAs Working in the Field

On the 10th August 2009, BSA Limited launched a newly developed software program, Work Manager, on a Windows Mobile handheld device (PDA). The software program was designed to maximise workday efficiency amongst BSA's technicians and create a smoother more efficient working platform. The PDA connects directly to the internet, communicating with the BSA server and FOXTEL.

The installer benefits related to the PDA are endless. Not only does it increase the number of possible jobs serviced each day, the live digital data means that many of our processes are faster, increasingly accurate and much more manageable. It also removes the need for paper and the re-entry of data on the web when a technician completes his field activities, supporting an improved work/life balance.

Other benefits of the device include reduced time spent on the computer, reduced communication time with the Call Centre, reducing costs for technicians and instant access to such things as BSA notices, message broadcasts, updates or cancellations, and unassigned work.

The FOXTEL PDA is faster, smoother and smarter, providing a one-stop-shop for almost every piece of information a technician needs.
