There are more than 6500 young men and women with high care needs residing in aged care facilities across Australia, simply because there had previously been no alternatives. With the help of major sponsors such as BSA Limited, on the 8th December 2007, the very first Youngcare Apartments opened at Sinnamon Park in Brisbane. BSA provided each apartment with free FOXTEL along with teleconferencing and video streaming between Youngcare Apartments and family or friends of residents.
Youngcare has now begun work on a second apartment project located on the Gold Coast. BSA has again pledged their support to this amazing development that offers a superior quality of life for young people with disabilities. Each apartment provides a number of things including, one bedroom apartments, an individual terrace or balcony, a plasma screen TV, individual meal options, an automatic door entry with proximity card, a ceiling mounted track and hoist system, overnight accommodation for guests or residents, and 24 hour nurse call.
Youngcare has also announced that their long term goal is to have more of these residences for each State and Territory across Australia. For more information about Young Care please visit www.youngcare.com.au .
